Jessica Ennis will compete this weekend in the Hyper Meeting in Gotzis Austria as part of her build up to this summer’s Games in London.
Ennis, who won a silver medal in the world Indoor championships in Istanbul, showed she is in record breaking form – setting the 3rd highest score by a female pentathlete ever. After a six week block of intense training Ennis has come out this summer in great shape.
“I have had a really strong block of tough training and have done everything I can to be in the best form to take on the best girls in the world in Gotzis. The start list reads like the who’s who of world heptathlon at the moment – the world Champion, Olympic Champion and all of the girls who have shared the podium with me the last 3 years.
“ I cannot take anything for granted so have to give it absolutely everything – but knowing I have not missed a single training session and focused totally on the job in hand makes me go there with plenty of confidence. She commented.
“I am definitely nervous but some nerves are good!” she added.
Having competed at local level and also recently at the Manchester Street Games where she won the 100m hurdles in a PB only to find that the organisers had failed to put out the final hurdle – all indicators are that she is in the shape of her life – now she has to put it all together over the 48 hours in the small Austrian town and hopefully come away with a win and a big confidence booster.
