Jessica Ennis receives the public's support when voted 3rd in the 2009 BBC Sports Personality Awards

Sheffield’s World Champion heptathlete, Jessica Ennis, was rewarded for her efforts in the Berlin World Championships in August, by BBC viewers and studio guests at the 56th BBC Sports Personality Awards, held in her hometown, with 3rd place out of the ten finalists.

Dressed in a stunning sequined Donna Karan dress, the 23 year old, looked every bit the star she has become, both on the red carpet and the stage, where she spoke from the heart and thanked her family, friends and the City of Sheffield for supporting her both through the hard times in 2008 when she missed the Olympic Games with potentially career threatening stress fractures in her ankle, and again through the highs of winning the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.

“This means so much to me – as it has been voted for by the public – their support has been incredible over the past few years, and I look forward to bring more medals home,” she reflected.
