Steve Lewis Misses Out On European Team Selection

Steve Lewis the UK’s number one pole vaulter has not been selected for the European Championships having not shown consistent form over the summer season.

Lewis, who was 7th in last year’s World Championships, and 6th = in the World Indoors, has made some major changes in his coaching set up, and as yet has not re-found his form.

Steve Lewis reflected:

“Not being selected is the right decision. I have embraced the changes I have made and am sticking by what I have done as I believe this is the right course for me long-term– but it was never going to be a quick fix. I am in really good shape and feel really healthy and just need to keep working on the technical stuff.

“ I will now plan for a block of hard training and competitions and will focus my efforts on jumping well later in the season both in competitions and at the Commonwealth Games.”
