Brooke Stratton, Australian Junior Long Jump champ has joined JCCM in Australia.

Brooke grew up in Melbourne’s east, one of four children in a typically sporty and competitive family.  As a child Brooke went to Little Athletics Carnivals to watch and support her older brother, however, it was not long before curiosity became a competitive urge and as a 5 year old she joined in the fun.

Brooke is a scholarship holder at the VIS and locally has competed for both the Knox and Nunawading Athletics Clubs.

Brooke qualified for Australia at the World Youth Championships in 2009, the World Junior Championships in 2010 and the Mannheim Junior Gala in 2011.  At Mannheim she jumped a Long Jump PB 6.60m and in doing so set an Australia National Junior record.

In 2011 her considerable talent was recognised by the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and Brooke was awarded a scholarship through SAHOF.

Brooke is well on the way to emulating the feats of her idols Bronwyn Thompson, Fabrice Lapierre and JCCM’s own Cathy Freeman.
